What Shabbat mode is and how to turn it on

Your site can observe Shabbat: it closes automatically when Shabbat and holidays begin, based on your location, and reopens on its own when they end. The times are calculated on the server with an accurate Hebrew calendar, and built into the site about 24 months ahead. More information on the “Shabbat-observant website” page.

  1. Turn on “Shabbat mode”
In the wizard, in the “Add-ons” step, choose the Shabbat mode module.
  2. Choose your location
Choose your town or find your location. Shabbat and holiday start and end times are calculated from it.
  3. Choose an end-time method
Choose the standard end time (nightfall) or Rabbeinu Tam (72 minutes), according to your custom.
  4. Publish
Once you publish, the site closes automatically every Shabbat and holiday and reopens when they end, without you having to touch anything.

Many business owners who close on Shabbat want their site to reflect that, and not stay “open” while the business is closed. Shabbat mode does it on its own, without you having to remember to switch anything on and off every week. Visitors don't see an error: they see a respectful closed page, and the site comes back on its own when Shabbat or the holiday ends.
