How to buy a domain and connect it to Rakatar
A Rakatar site goes live for free on an address like your-name.rakatar.com. Want your own domain, like my-business.co.il? Buy it from a registrar (Rakatar doesn't sell domains) and connect it here in a minute. We detect your registrar and show you exactly what to add.
- 1. Buy a domain from a registrar
An Israeli domain (.co.il / .org.il): from an accredited Israeli registrar (accredited by ISOC-IL). A global domain (.com / .net): from Cloudflare Registrar (at cost, no markup) or Namecheap. The domain is registered in your name and is always yours. - 2. Open the connection screen in Rakatar
In the dashboard: “My site” → “Connect a domain”. Type the domain you bought and click “Connect”. We'll detect your registrar and show two DNS records: an ALIAS/CNAME record at the root (@) and a CNAME record for www, both pointing to an address that looks like mh-xxxx.pages.dev. - 3. GoDaddy
My Products → next to the domain: DNS → Add. Add a CNAME named @ (or www) with the value from the screen. Save. - 3. Namecheap
Domain List → Manage → Advanced DNS → Add New Record. CNAME Record, Host = @ and www, Value = the address from the screen. Save. - 3. Cloudflare
Your domain → DNS → Records → Add record. Type = CNAME, Name = @ and www, Target = the address from the screen, Proxy = on. Save. - 3. LiveDNS
Domain management → DNS zone → Add record. Type CNAME, name @ and www, target = the address from the screen. Save. - 3. DomainTheNet
Domain Management → DNS Zone Editor. Add a CNAME for @ and www with the value from the screen. Save. - 3. Box
Domain management → Edit DNS records. Add a CNAME for @ and www with the value from the screen. Save. - 4. Wait for the connection
Go back to Rakatar. You can click “Check now”, or just wait: we check automatically. A DNS update usually takes up to an hour (sometimes up to 48 hours). Once it's detected, the status changes to “Connected” and SSL (HTTPS) is issued automatically.
The domain is always yours: it's registered in your name with the registrar, not with us. If you stop your subscription, the site simply comes off that address and you can point the domain anywhere else. If a registrar doesn't support a record at the root (@), point only www and set up a redirect from the root to www at the registrar.
